Gymkhana Games

Gymkhana Games or also known as Mounted Games, is a super way to have some fun with your horse or pony, whilst you both keep agile and fit!

With the aim to be as good as these riders and ponies!

 

 TEST M 

Bending game ~ Place 6 obstacles in a straight line 5 meters apart down the length of your riding area. Keep at least 10 metres on either side of your straight line, so you don't bump into anything! Obstacle 1 and 6 are your start, half way and finish lines. You have 3 obstacles to weave around. Weave through the obstacles, alternating sides each time and riding a circle at the end to return, weaving back up the obstacle line. Complete 6 lapse, 3 lapse in each direction. 

  • Lap 1 ~ Walk
  • Lap 2 ~ Trot
  • Lap 3 ~ Canter
  • Lap 4 ~ Walk 
  • Lap 5 ~ Canter
  • Lap 6 ~ Trot

Penalties are issued for:-

  1. Breaking of speed gate
  2. Knocking into your obstacles
  3. No flying changes in canter
  4. Wrong diagonal in trot.
  5. Bad Horsemanship
  6. Poor Rider Position

Extra points are awarded for your Style!


How is this competition graded?

  • You start with 360 points and the Winners are those left with the most points!   

What can I use for obstacles?

  • Ideally posts of around 50cm diameter, 160cm tall supported in a smooth strong foot.
  • Bins or oil drums minimum height 80cm
  • Jump wings (any style)
  • Plant pots with plants - minimum height 80cm tall

Sock and Bucket game ~ Roll up 4 pairs of socks (individually in their pairs) and place 1 pair 5m away from but in line with the first obstacle. Place a feed bucket (open end up) 5m away from but in line with obstacle number 3. Then place 2 pairs of rolled up socks 5m away from but in line with obstacle number 6.

  • Lap 1 ~ Start the race from Obstacle number 1 with 1 pair of rolled up socks in your hand. Race as fast as you can down to Obstacle 6 dropping the pair of socks in your hand into the bucket en-route.
  • Lap 2 ~ Retrieve a pair of socks from obstacle 6 (dismount/mount or vaulting is allowed), race down to obstacle 1 dropping your pair of socks into the bucket en route.
  • Lap 3 & 4 ~ Repeat this until all the socks are in the bucket. If you miss the bucket you must retrieve the sock and place it in the bucket before remounting to continue the race. The winner is the fastest to complete the race with the highest points.

Penalties are issued for:-

  1. Missing the bucket
  2. Knocking the bucket over
  3. Not vaulting off and on
  4. Time penalties 
  5. Bad Horsemanship
  6. Poor Rider Position when vaulting, racing and when dropping the sock into to the bucket.

Extra points are awarded for your Style!
